NUR 104 Socialization to Nursing Asst

 This course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to a career as a nursing assistant. The course will guide the student in learning effective strategies and identifying resources that will help toward success in the basic nursing assistant program. Key elements of the course include: role of the nursing assistant as a member of the healthcare team, importance of good communication, accountability to self and others, and the legal/moral/ethical responsibilities associated with a career in healthcare. The student will also learn effective ways to study, listening skills, reading comprehension, basic mathematic skills and using college resources. The student will have an opportunity to tour a local healthcare facility to experience the role of nursing assistant, as well as complete preparations for entry into NUR 105 Basic Nursing Assistant Training
