NUR 233 Nursing of Children

The course incorporates a holistic approachto addressing the needs of the pediatric patient.Increases the student’s knowledge of facts, principles and concepts with regard to care of the child from neonate to adolescent. The nursing student will utilize the nursing process to provide care to children who are experiencing serious illness, long-term physical develop-mental problems and anomalies. It places emphasis on the application of knowledge of growth and development patterns at various stages in the case of the child as part of the family unit. Utilization of protective, nutritive, and generative skills will reinforce previous learning and provide the opportunity for transfer of learning to new settings. The student will recognize cultural influences on growth and development.
