ART 217 Indigenous Art

This course introduces students to the diversity of Indigenous contemporary and near past practices and how these critically address history and current events. We will discuss a variety of art forms used by indigenous individuals and communities to express themselves and their connections to the past, each other, and the land. Additionally, we will touch upon the importance of group identity. Lecture three hours per week. This course applies to the IAI General Education Core Curriculum Fine Arts and Humanities package.
