FIR 270 Fire Behavior and Combustion

This course explores the theories and fundamentals of how and why fires start, spread, and how they are controlled. Emphasis is concentrated on the molecular structure of how fire burns and sustains a burning state. Concepts associated with the chemistry and dynamics of fire will be covered as well as the science and dynamics behind the proper use and application of various extinguishing agents used in fire fighting. Lecture three hours per week.
