MAT 120 Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers I
Students develop the mathematical background they will need as elementary school teachers. Topics include: sets, number systems, operations with integers and rational numbers, elementary number theory, and problem solving. The focus is on explaining how to solve problems rather than just providing an answer.
Prerequisite
Successful completion of MAT 085 or
MAT 095 or qualifying score on Mathematics Placement Test; and successful completion of
MAT 092 or qualifying score on Geometry Proficiency Test or two semesters of high school geometry or equivalent with a grade of “C” or better. Successful completion of ENG 084 or qualifying score on the English Placement Test.
