FIR 112 Fire Prevention

This course provides fundamental information regarding the history and philosophy of fire suppression, organization and operation of a fire prevention bureau, use of fire codes, identification and correction of fire hazards, and the relationships of fire prevention with built-in fire protection systems, fire investigation, and life-safety education. Lecture three hours per week.

FIR 100 or instructor approval. Office of State Fire Marshall Fire Officer I Certification Requirements: 1) Four years minimum of fire service experience; 2) Certified Fire Fighter 3) Completion of five F.O.I. courses; 4) One year of Fire Officer training. Corequisite: FIR 100
