FIR 132 Tactics and Strategy I

This course is part of the Fire Officer I series. The course explores the theories and fundamentals of how and why fires start, spread, and how they are controlled. This course also introduces basic principles and methods associated with fireground tactics and strategy as required of the company officer. Emphasis in the element of size-up, fireground operations, pre-fire planning, as well as basic engine and truck company operations on the fire scene. Lecture three hours per week.

Prerequisite

Prerequisites: FIR 100 or instructor approval. Office of State Fire Marshall Fire Officer I Certification Requirements: 1) Four years minimum of fire service experience; 2) Certified Fire Fighter 3; 3) Completion of five F.O.I. courses; 4) One year of Fire Officer training. Corequisite: FIR 100
